College is expensive, but Tulane offers merit and need-based scholarships to many admitted students as well as additional financial assistance programs which help to cover tuition and fees. Tulane considers ALL admitted students for merit scholarships, and our review process is need-blind.
Financial aid packages are typically composed of grants and need-based scholarships, loans, and part-time student employment. Merit, ROTC, and athletic scholarships are also available. Students from Louisiana may qualify for special awards as well.
All freshmen applicants are considered for partial merit scholarships, ranging from $14,000 to $24,000 per year. A special application procedure must be followed for those wishing to be considered for the Dean's Honor Scholarship and/or the Community Service Scholarship.
Tulane's Office of Financial Aid, together with Federal Government, determines an applicant's financial need and awards aid to meet that need. Tulane requires that both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS Profile forms are submitted for students seeking need-based aid.
No Loan Tuition for Middle-Income Families
Tulane is committed to making a world-class education accessible to all students who qualify to attend, regardless of family income. For incoming freshmen in the fall of 2009, we are offering “no loan” tuition to those students whose families earn less than $75,000 per year and who complete the two required financial aid application forms (FAFSA and CSS Profile) by the suggested deadlines. For qualifying students, Tulane ensures that the cost of tuition, fees and transportation will be met with a combination of Tulane scholarship, the family’s institutional expected family contribution (EFC), and certain federal grants and/or ROTC scholarship. Because Tulane’s student body is unique in that over 75% of its students travel over 500 miles from home to attend, budgeted travel costs to and from the university will also be factored into the no-loan need-based aid awards.
